Like Botham, Flintoff turned his first fifty into his first century as he followed a first innings duck with 137 in his second innings. England won the match, but Flintoff's innings was overshadowed by Astle's double century in New Zealand's brave effort for a seemingly impossible 550, which fell 99 runs short. Astle hit the fastest ever 200, going from 100 to 200 in only 39 deliveries.
